Yoiking with Timbuktu.

Timbuktu is doing a unique concert with a sami yoiking star on the indigenous festival Riddu Riddu in Gaivuotna/Kåfjord, July 22 2011.

One of Scandinavia's hottest music names these days, Timbuktu, is playing a concert on Riddu Riddu with the traditional Sami yoik (traditional form of song) star Lawra Somby as a guest artist. A unique production where hip-hop meets yoik like it's never been done before. 

 
Lawra Somby is most known from the sami group Adjagas that have been touring the whole Europe these lase years, and have been getting good critics. Timbuktu's front figure, Jason Diakté, is one of Scandinavia's hottest music names, and has toured land and shore with the biggest names in hip-hop in Scandinavia.
 
This is a good parallel to the indigenous festival that originally started as a sapmi pokitical project in the '90s. This year the festival is celebrating it's 20 years anniversary and has a status as a hub-festival. The festival is a part of Norway's commitment to Native people both national and international.
 
Wether Timbuktu himself know how to joik is not known, but he is at least know for his explosive live-concerts. And as know, joik has bigger forces that gunpowder.... This will be the all time concert on Riddu Riddu!
