Urfilm 2006

This is the third year Riddu Riđđu presents a film program. Many of our filmmakers are going to be here this year. Special invited guests are Ernest Webb from Canada with his films about the Dab lyiyuu’s (the real ones): namely the Cree people. From far away comes Grant Saunders with films about the aborigines of Australia, and from Finland we have invited Hanno Hyvönen.

The film festival will start on Thursday the 13th of July with a Norwegian Premiere, followed up by a series of brilliant films made by youth in Sapmi. The night ends with a youth concert. On Friday we present our films about the Cree people and many interesting documentaries about the challenges and joys of being a Sami. Saturday is filled with many thrilling short films, all from the northern region. In addition we have got two prize-winning films, one about the Roman people and one about the aborigines of Australia. There should be something for everyone to enjoy. Most of the filmmakers will be present on their screenings and it will be possible to ask questions and give comments.
