The world's smallest gallery
“The cube” in Ystebt, Gáivuotna/Kåfjord
As a part of Riddu Riddu's art program, the Kåfjord artist Odd Marakatt Sivertsen mark the opening of a gallery in the pebbles.
The gallery “the cube” is standing on a important coastal Sami arena: the beach, the shore, the dinner plate. The audience is here meeting coastal Sami and Kven culture, identity, nurture and history. It is time for an intense meeting with an artwork – and itself. The gallery is in addition standing on historical ground, here where the germans drew the line for the burning of Finnmark and North-Troms. Lyngen and Kåfjord was also the border for NATO's atom strategy, war strategy during the cold war – Lyngen line. A historical marked border in norwegian context, but that is litte discussed, almost hidden. On this place it is revealed: the world's smallest gallery.
“The cube” is included in Odd Marakatt Sivertsens total art project that examines visual art and literature from the North.
