Nanook, which means the master of bears released their first album November last year and quickly became one of Greenland’s most popular bands. Their sound is rock infused with the culture of Greenland. Their frontman, Fredrik Elsner, says they attempt to create a new style within Greenland music, a style that involves innovative nuances you rarely find in any other music from Greenland.

Nanook chose a roaring polar bear for the cover of their debut album. This is not just to refer to their band name, but also because they are concerned with, and wish to remind people of, the consequences climate change has on the polar bears of Greenland.

There are several reasons to why Nanook is one of Greenland’s most popular bands. Not only do they sing solely on Greenlandic, but also they bring you a new sound.
