TORKEL RASMUSSEN
Torkel Rasmussen is from Kirkenes, but he now lives in Utsjok, Finland. He is a journalist and he has published three children’s books in North Sami. The last book Áigin Lavra – the summer in Bassegohpi was released in Norwegian, North Sami, Lule Sami and South Sami in 2009. In this book we meet the boy Aigin Lavra from Kiruna who has been invited to attend a shaman school in Bassegohpi along with 24 other children from all over Sapmi. The participants at the Riddu-Riddu children’s festival will hear some extracts from this book.

SIRI BROCH JOHANSEN
Siri Broch Johansen is from Tana. Earlier this year Siri debuted with her children`s book Sarah`s diary. It was published in both Norwegian, North Sami, South Sami and Lulesami .
In the book we meet 11 year old Sara from Manndalen and the gnome Bakte-Laras who gets mutual use of each other. The children at The Riddu children’s festival will hear extracts from this book.
Johansen has previously published poems and short stories in magazines and anthologies and has also written textbook.

RAUNI MAGGA LUKKARI
Rauni Magga Lukkari from the Finnish side of the Tana river, is one of the most recognized Sami poets. Since her debut as a poet in 1980 with Jienat vulget she has published a number of poetry collections. In 2007 she wrote a monologue Lihkkosálmmai ( A Man Of Happiness), which was dramatized at the National Theatre in Norway and casted Nils Ole Oftebro, as the main character.
Irony and humour are central themes in Lukkari’s writing , which is evident in her latest a collection of informal essays Lex Sapmi ja eara joccit.
This year Troms county library launches a bilingual booklet about Lukkari, featuring a biography and some selected texts of Lukkari. Lecture by Lill Tove Fredriksen. Lukkari will be reading from some chosen texts.

BOOK CHAT WITH BENTE PEDERSEN
Bente Pedersen is from Skibotn in North of Troms. Since her debut series Raija in 1986 she has been incredibly successful and has gained the stance of an exceptional serial writer in Norway and Scandinavia. She has released over 140 titles and sold over 6 million copies in total. The Northern history and culture are important elements in her writing. She describes herself as an Northern cocktail.
Her last series Tre søstre (Three sisters) is the theme when we meet her in dialogue with Troms county librarian Aud Tåga at Riddu- Riddu this year.

THIS YEARS YOUTH ARTIST NIILLAS HOLMBERG
This year’s young artist is the multitalented Niillas Holmberg from Utsjok in Finland. His talents include singing, songwriting and acting. In the festival library we get to meet his poetic talent. Holmberg’s debut in the Fall of 2009, with his poetry collection Dego livččen oaidán iežan received good reception from the critics.
The festival leader Ragnhild Dalheim Eriksen will give a small presentation of Holmberg. We will get to hear some of the poems in Sami and in English version, accompanied by his friend Roope Maenpaa on guitar.

MEETING WITH SIGBJØRN SKÅDEN AND
EASTERINE IRALU
Sigbjørn Skåden is from Skånland in the south of Troms. He debuted in 2004 with his epic poem Skovvadeddjiid Gonagas (The Shoemakers King). He has since gained wide recognition as a lyric poet and for his engagement with Sami literature and culture. In 2009 he visited the festival library as a teacher for the writing work shop. This time he is invited to talk about his recent release a poetry collection Prekariahta lávlla (2009).
Easterine Iralu is a journalist, poet and author from Kohima in Nagaland, south east in India. Since 2005 she has lived in exile in Tromsø where she gained the status of a free city writer from 2005 until 2007. Iralu is a prolific writer with numerous releases behind her since her stay in Norway. The central theme in her writing is freedom of speech, colonialism and post colonialism. The novel A Terrible Matriarchy (2007) was released in Norwegian text in 2009 . In this novel we meet the girl Lieno who refuses to be subdued despite a strict childhood at her grandmas who doesn’t think girls need, schooling, love or spare time.
We will hear about this book. Together with her daughter they will perform some poems in a singing fashion about Angami Nagas.
