Indigenous Youth Gathering

For the 12th year in a row, Riddu Riđđu Festival has invited indigenous youth from around the world to participate in the Indigenous Youth Gathering (IYG).

Riddu Riđđu Festival has invited indigenous youth from around the world to
participate in its workshop— the Indigenous Youth Gathering.

The main goal of this workshop is to create networks between young
indigenous artists. This year, youth from Guatemala, Greenland, Nepal,
Russaia and Sápmi will participate in the workshop.

The program includes courses in
the dance and music traditions of Guatemala, Sami yoik from Kautokeino, Norway,
music from Zanzibar and handcrafts with the Vepsian people of Karelia.

On workshop's  final day, the audience will be able to experience a powerful
performance from the indigenous youth who worked together for one
week during the festival.

The workshop is funded by the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, the Sami parliament and
Frifond.
