Indigenous youth gathering 2012
The aim of IYG, the cornerstone of Riddu Riđđu is that indigenous youths from around the world meet and share their knowledge and traditions. Through work shops and socializing builds youth pride and awareness of their own culture by learning from each other.
IYG builds networks across geographical boundaries and the boundaries of artistic genres. The young people concludes the gathering by setting up a performance based on the work shops they have attended.
The camp is held over five days, with various workshops each day. There will be other joint activities as well as the opportunity to participate in Riddu Riđđu festival's various program.
The workshop focuses on Sami Yoik traditions, as well as song, dance and craft traditions of different indigenous areas.
The program includes of three main parts: Yoik, traditions of the This year`s people of the north, and the last course in dance and / or music. The details of the program is now being prepared and published as soon as possible.
Yoik: Each year, participants learn about traditional Sami music from different parts of Sápmi.

Participants will gain a common challenge in the task of putting together a program that is performed on the festival's main stage on Saturday 14 July.
