"GON" at Riddu Riđđu
Experience this fantastic group from South-Sami theatre on the Riddu arena Friday 18. July 12.00. A production by Åarjelhsaemien Theatre and Ada Jürgensens Dance Studio.

Last year Riddu Riđđu had the pleasure to present a colorful interplay of dance, theater and yoik. With Gïeje did Åarjelhsaemien Theater and Adas Dance Studio hold a unique show, where they wanted to convey yoik and the dance’s common origin. It was an acoustic experience second to none. Oscar Wilde has said that one must either be a work of art or you have to wear a work of art. I would say that Gïele did both.
Seductive
This year the director Ada Jürgensen once again bring the ensemble with her to the Riddu arena, this time with a renewed material. We can again let us be seduced by the dance theatre’s fantastic costumes, choreography and story. Nina Erdahl has this year as last year responsible for the styling and costumes.
Gïeje anno 2009 has an international and urban touch to it, but this does not mean that they have lost their original identity. They are still an affiliated group – where the whole group are active contributors - and it is still about scenic expressions where yoik and the Sami language, aesthetics and mindset is in the center. Within this frame they want to experiment with their own identity symbols, as well as the myths that exist about the Sami cultural identity. This will, among other things, be communicated through various stunt and improvisations. This will be a spectacular and beautiful performance.
