1 million NOK to building Nisga´a long house
As part of the Norwegian Government's commitment to the arts and culture scene, The Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs has granted 1 million NOK to building Nisga´a long house at the Riddu Riđđu festival grounds.
The building will be raised this year during the festival, when the Nisga'a people are the guest indigenous people of 2009 at Riddu Riđđu.
Wilps Nisga'a = Nisga´a house is the result of cooperation between Nisga people from Canada, the Riddu Riđđu indigenous festival and the Center for Northern Peoples. The house will be used as a stage and ceremonial building and will be part of the festival’s collection of indigenous buildings. The festival grounds currently have a small community of buildings consisting of five indigenous residences from around the world.
